- Frank's Alternate Energy has been providing solar and wind powered electrical systems for "off-the-grid" cottages, remote rural homes, and industrial applications in the Thunder Bay area since 1994. We retail a full line of photovoltaic panels, batteries, inverters, controls, meters, wind generators, wind-powered pond aerators, water-pumping systems, energy efficient lighting and refrigeration, wood-burning cookstoves, solar water heating systems, solar flashlights and radios. In 2000, we commissioned the area's first "grid-intertie" photovoltaic system, complete with all permitting & inspections. Our specialty is custom design, professional installation and experienced troubleshooting. We operate our office, shop, and homes on renewable energy.
